Five years ago, the auditor general released a report that looked into Cayman’s social-assistance programmes. The audit found no overall strategy, no objectives, no priorities, no coordination and, ultimately, no accountability for how $50 million were spent that year.

As the primary pillar of the Cayman Islands’ economy, the financial services industry has been at the heart of this country’s success and its high standard of living for the past 40 years. As an industry, Financial Services is the single largest contributor to the GDP, the largest employer, and largest provider of revenue to the government.

Our system of public education is broken. For nearly 30 years, it has failed a generation of Caymanians, leaving thousands of Caymanians behind, unable to get decent jobs in a country with over 20,000 work permits at any given time.

The Cayman Islands does not have political parties which are distinguishable based on some clear political ideology or vision for the country. The current political parties are best described as “cults of personality” led by a dominant public figure or a big personality.

Your vote is worth between CI$600,000 and CI$950,000 plus pension and benefits to a Cayman politician. That’s the estimated total salary they earn during the four-year term. For that, you should expect to see an improvement in your quality of life, cost of living, public education system, strategic management of the infrastructure, environmental protection of our natural resources and opportunities for Caymanians at all levels of society.
